These Titan Chain diamond-pattern chains are great winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. And they're lightweight and compact, so they store in your vehicle nicely too.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Slide chains behind the tire

2. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Make connections behind the tire

3. Connect the ends of the cable, which will sit behind the tire.

Attach green hook to yellow side chains

4. Around front, connect the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook at the top of the tire.

Feed tensioner through clips

5. At the bottom of the tire, feed the silver tensioning chain through the red channel bracket and pull it taut. Then run the tensioner through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire.

Recheck tension

6. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire. Pull your vehicle forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the tension.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

From what I can tell, they fit like they should and should do the job. I made a video of my experience since my first pair didn't fit. Great customer service experience every time! Will buy from etrailer again.

by:

Great customer svc. great value, very knowledgeable staff. I will be test fitting them this weekend as I've had no experience with chains, and I am confident that if I have any questions or concerns, e-trailer will be there.

by:

Wow!! Installed in minutes and fit snug no chain flopping in fender well like other chains. These are half the weight than my other chains and Titans came with nice carry case as well. Thank you to Christina J for all your help and getting these to me just in time to hit the snow [thumbs up]

No problems they work great

by:

Great product, shipped out asap and arrived super fast.

by:

The service at e trail is perfect and time will tell on the product. The snow chains fit well and will work for the expected conditions.

by:

Shipping was delayed due to weather, no fault there. Order received next day and was packaged nicely. Chains were slightly tangled due to shipping movement I would assume. Easy untangle and look good. Have t had a chance to use yet as weather has broke but will be placing the handy carrying bag in my vehicle for use as soon as the weather turns.

Jessica was very helpful selecting which chains to purchase. They fit well, the price was very competitive and arrived quickly. I had to deliver some material to a mountain location and needed to go down a couple of steep inclines. I put chains on all four tires of my truck and one axle on the trailer. I didn't have any slipping or sliding on an icy snow-packed road.

by:

I put these chains on and they lasted less than one slow-driving (under 30mph) mile. Despite proper installation, both of them broke in different ways (seems like multiple weak points). One use and they failed me, in snow, got me deep into a predicament that I had to work quite a bit to get out of. I am worse off than when I started - and I had to pay a lot to be stranded. In my assessment, these chains are garbage and actually quite [not allowed to make "suggestions that may affect safety/warranty]. Contacted etrailer about it, brushed off referring to the 30-day limitation. There is no concern for proper function, likely just the bottomline. Value your money and go elsewhere.

I have a 2018 Suburban Premier with the 22” wheels and 285/45R22 tires. I purchased two sets of these chains (four chains in all) for a trip to Mammoth California at the beginning of March 2023 during a record snow season. I was really glad that I had them as I had them all four wheels for most of a week, taking them off and putting them on at least 5 times. Part of the time I had them on I was pulling a 6x12 UHaul trailer. These chains worked flawlessly and provided a huge amount of extra traction on top of my Michelin Defender LTS M/S tires. I was a bit concerned that using the chains may cause some damage to may alloy wheels, but that did not happen. If you put them on correctly, the wheels don’t get damaged at all. The etrailer videos that show how to put the chains on accurately portray the ease of doing that. Even after a week of pretty constant use, the chains don’t show much wear at all. I would absolutely buy these again.

by:

I'm very happy with my snow chains! The chains are easy to install, the carrying case is great, the instructions are very clear, and George and Carol from etrailer provided great customer service! The chains are well-priced and are comparable to the Grizzlar Diamond tire chains.

by:

For ease of installation, these snow chains are great! The only problem I had was on my right rear, the tensioning chain could not be tightened enough going through the rings the way the instructions showed. I ended up going to the far ring first, then back to the middle, then across the wheel. Only for tensioning (doesn’t pull the chains offsides at all), so I think my solution worked well. Kelsey S. was a wonder to work with! This was my first foray into snow chains, so she guided me through my options, explaining every benefit and need for the ice/snow conditions expected. I put the chains on my 2015 Ram 2500 4x4 long bed relatively quickly considering my inexperience.

by:

These chains were amazing! I was a bit hesitant to go with chains over cables due to the car's manual saying to use cables, but after talking to Bob at etrailer, and watching the install videos, I went with them (on all four tires) and am glad I did! We went up to Yosemite for the New Year, and it snowed the day we drove in. We got through the gate into the park without needing chains, but once inside, the roads started to get covered, and though we have AWD, we don't have snow tires and the chains seemed like the best option. We pulled over and had the chains on all four tires within about 20 minutes. The car ran like a tank through the snow (and later, ice-covered roads) and I'm really happy we went with the chains rather than cables. After putting on the chains, we drove about 100 yards to check and tighten them. They were actually pretty tight - only had to tighten one. They really really came in handy driving through the Yosemite Valley, and the email responses I got from Bob prior to buying these showed me great customer service. The shipping speed was top notch as well, and overall, I'm happy that we went with etrailer to get these chains for our snow-covered trip to Yosemite.

by:

No snow yet but the practice installation went great! So simple my 6 year-old helped make sure I was following the instructions properly. Time will tell if I need them and how they work in the upcoming North Idaho snow plowing season. Fit great on my 275/70R18 tires. I appreciate the carrying case they came with, also!

by:

These chains are Awesome in every way! I live at 7500' on a mesa in W.new mexico, winter is get to town in the morning early while the roads are still frozen. . . otherwise its mud\snow\rock\ice, in a steady uphill climb. . . These chains go on so fast, (like 5min for a set). I use them on a 2001 AWD\4WD Expedition... FRONT end only and while I get some rear end sliding, the fronts just never break loose at all

by:

While the snow chains were easier to use than traditional snow chains, one of the links broke within the first day of use. I was driving less than 20 mph on snowy/icy roads so I don't know what went wrong. It was very frustrating to have the snow chains break almost immediately. As such, I cannot recommend this product.

by:

First, overall I will say I like these chains. I have used cables before as well as cheaper chains and found them more difficult to put on (in the case of the chains) and did not provide as great of traction.

When these chains are on they work great. They're pretty easy to put on and the traction in deep snow and on ice is great.

Unfortunately, one of my chains completely broke apart when I was driving the mountain rode in a bit of ice and slush. I was going about 25 and I had properly secured and tightened them before heading out. I doubled back to pick them up off the road and the metal was completely broken, so there was no salvaging that. I had used them only 4-5 times and dry them off after each use, so I'm pretty disappointed it did not last long at all. I reordered a pair in hopes the last one was a fluke and now have a backup chain in case one breaks again, but will update this after a few more trips with the new chains. Overall, they work great when they work, but the build quality is now in question.

by:

This is actually my second set of these chains, my first set loosened up quite a bit and weren't very stable at speeds over 20 MPH. Overall, fantastic set! I know these aren't supposed to last a lifetime by any means, but still got about 2 seasons of mountain/snow wear and use with them. Price is right, install is easy once you know and understand how to put them on. Pro Tip- I went to staples and got the instruction sheet laminated, it helped tremendously, especially when you need to do a quick reference on the side of a road.

by:

They seem like good chains, but they don't seem to fit my 2021 Toyota Sienna AWD tires like it said they should (235/65/17). The tensioner chain is too short for me to pull tension on adjacent yellow chains and I am worried this will negatively impact the chains stability on my tires. I can barely get the rubber tensioner through the first red ring after pulling and readjusting several times. This is my first time using snow tire chains... Would someone with experience be able to let me know if this is OK or if I should buy some different chains?

The Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part # PW3029C are not confirmed as a fit for the 35x12.50R17LT tires on your F-150. For your 2019 Ram 1500 with 35/12.5-17 tires, the safest route is the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2337 for both on-road and off-road travel. These chains have a smaller link thickness (3.7mm) compared to other diamond-pattern chains like the # TC2539 (which have 5.5mm chains). The reason why link thickness matters is because the thickness ultimately contributes to how much wheel well clearance you have with your chains. In order to determine whether...

The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2337 are a good fit for your 35x12.5x17 tires and will provide you with good traction because of the diamond pattern and square links; they'll be a little bit rougher of a ride because of those square links, but they'll...
